Tony Award nominee Veanne Cox will star in A Disaster Begins, a one-woman show written and directed by Obie Award winner Ain Gordon, to play the HERE Arts Center, October 9-17.

The fictional work focuses on a woman and her unbreakable bond with the devastating 1900 hurricane which decimated the Texas island of Galveston, taking the lives of 6,000 people in a single night.

Cox's many stage credits include Company, Caroline, or Change, The Dinner Party, Damn Yankees, Twelfth Night, Last Easter, The Food Chain, and The Prisoner of Second Avenue. She received the 2008 Obie Award for Sustained Excellence.
