The play explores the balance of power between an unruly classroom and a teacher on the edge. The satirical play premiered in Brazil in 1973 and was immediately banned by the military dictatorship in power. A censored version was eventually allowed, but the controversy had already led to international interest and many productions, including on Broadway.
Halston's Broadway credits include Twentieth Century, Gypsy, Hairspray, and The Women. She received Drama Desk nominations for her performances in Red Scare on Sunset and White Chocolate. She is also known for her role as Bitsy Von Muffling on Sex and the City.
