Natalie Dessay, Lucas Meachem, Patricia Racette, et al. Set for Santa Fe Opera Season

The Santa Fe Opera will present the world premiere of The Letter, a new opera based on the short story by Somerset Maugham, written by Paul Moravec and Wall Street Journal theater critic Terry Teachout, beginning on July 25.

The production, which will star Patricia Racette, will be helmed by noted theater and opera director Jonathan Kent and feature costumes by world-renowned fashion designer Tom Ford.

The SFO’s season, which will run July 3-August 29, will also include Laurent Pelly’s production of La Traviata, starring Natalie Dessay; Stephen Lawless’ production of The Elixir of Love; Chas Rader-Schreiber’s production of Don Giovanni with Lucas Meachem in the title role; and Francesco Negrin’s production of Gluck’s Alceste, with Christine Brewer in the title role.
