Originally staged in 1681 and just as salacious as any modern day imaginings, The London Cuckold delighted London crowds and thrived in the repertory for 70 years. Following centuries out of the spotlight, the play resurfaced in 1985 with a new adaptation, followed by yet another version staged by The Royal National Theatre in 1998. Now, in a world premiere adaptation, Edward Ravenscroft's outrageous farce has been re-imagined by Ark Associate Artistic Director (and Ovation and LA Weekly award nominee) Richard Tatum. While keeping the classic comedy elements intact, Tatum's stripped down script picks up the pace and has a modern sensibility that will have even today's audiences blushing and howling.
