In addition to the mammoth money-making machine known internationally as Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera, there's another musical version of the Gaston Leroux novel making the rounds: Phantom, which has a score by Maury Yeston and a libretto by Arthur Kopit. Now it's back for another go at the Westchester Broadway Theatre, where it made its 1991 New York debut, and while its return may be a testament to the property's commercial appeal, it's far from a positive argument for artistic excellence -- even though it swallows nearly three precious hours trying.
