The play brings the epic conflict of the US Civil War to life solely through period music and the first-person writings of the men and women who lived through it. Alternately humorous, heartrending and horrific, the letters, memoirs and tales of the War Between the States cast history in a personal and accessible light. Wrenching agonies and history-making triumphs shine in the very words of those who lived history first-hand. Confederate and Union, slave and widower, all take to the stage to share an experience so profound it leaves history books in the dust.

Critically-acclaimed director Sean Branney compiled the script from a wide body of first-person writings and music from the Civil War. He also directs the production.
