WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center presents the 25th anniversary production of Last Summer at Bluefish Cove, by Jane Chambers. Set in 1980, this seminal American work explores the lesbian relationships of eight women at an out-of-the-way Long Island vacation spot as they encounter awakening, love and personal tragedy. Not glossy, Madison Avenue "lesbian-chic," these women are flawed, funny...and family.
The play opens as Eva, newly separated from her husband, stumbles onto the enclave without knowing its special nature. She is befriended by Lil (who is harboring a secret) and is introduced to the Cove's regulars. The summer unfolds as the women laugh, love and say goodbye. Sue Hamilton directs.
