The circus comes to Balagan Theatre in the West Coast premiere of George Brants new and exciting play, Elephant's Graveyard. When a struggling circus comes to a small town in Tennessee, things are shaping up to be a normal stop for the show. The train arrives, the animals and performers settle in, and the tent is constructed. Finally the ever popular parade ensues, but Mary, the circus prize elephant, panics and causes a catastrophe. Events careen towards a climax you wont believe as the townspeople seek revenge on Mary. Set in September of 1916, the play combines historical fact and legend, exposing the deep-seated American craving for spectacle, violence and revenge.
