Tony Award winner Frances Sternhagen will read selections from Marta Góes' play A Safe Harbor for Elizabeth Bishop, at the Martel Theater of the Vogelstein Center for Drama and Film at Vassar College, on February 26, at 5:30 pm.

The play recounts Bishop's 20-year South American sojourn in Brazil, where she bears witness to the enormous upheaval and reform in the country. The reading will be followed by a question-and-answer session with Sternhagen.

Sternhagen won Tony Awards for The Good Doctor and The Heiress. Her many other Broadway credits include Edward Albee's Seascape, Steel Magnolias, Morning's at Seven, and On Golden Pond. She is a Vassar alumna, and the recipient of the college's 2009 Distinguished Achievement Award.
