Next up will be the Southern premiere of the musical A Christmas Memory (November 25-December 24), based on Truman Capote's short story, and featuring a book by Duane Poole with music by Larry Grossman and lyrics by Carol Hall.
ASF will present the world premiere of John Walch's In the Book Of… (January 5-22), a contemporary reimagining of the Biblical tale of Ruth. In it, two women, an Army lieutenant, and her Afghan immigrant friend settle in Mississippi, where they become the targets of a rampaging local conservative talk radio personality.
Additional productions will include The 39 Steps (January 27-May 19), Travels with My Aunt (February 3-May 19), and three Shakespeare plays: Henry VIII (March 15-May 20), directed by Robert Richmond; The Merry Wives of Windsor (April 13-May 18); and A Midsummer Night's Dream (April 21-May 20), the latter of which will also be available to tour to schools.
Direct from South Korea, ASF will present NANTA Cooking Show (July 10-15), and the season will conclude with the musical comedy The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (August 10-September 2), by William Finn and Rachel Sheinkin.
