NBC has picked up The New Normal, a comedy project from Ryan Murphy and Allison Adler, according to Deadline.com. As previously reported, Tony Award nominee Andrew Rannells will play one of the lead roles.

The show centers on a gay couple and the woman who becomes their surrogate as they start a family.

Rannells is currently starring on Broadway in The Book of Mormon, for which he received a Tony Award nomination as Best Actor in a Musical. His other stage credits include Hairspray and Jersey Boys.
