One of the best times on Broadway
I have been to many Broadway shows, but never have I been to a show as fun and entertaining as Godspell!!!!!! I was lucky enough to get the lottery tickets, which happened to be the best seats in the house, but I would have paid top dollar if I had to. Godspell encompasses everything a great show should have, exceptional cast, astounding music, and amazing story line. It had me laughing and crying then smiling the whole way home!!! YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS SHOW!

Incredible.
What a fantastic night at the theater. Godspell COMPLETELY surpassed my expectations. My family and I initially tried for other shows such as Follies or Anything Goes, but were eventually left with Godspell. The reviews were so so, but I am here to tell you that Godspell is simply wonderful. The show chronicles the trials, tribulations, and lessons learned by the disciples of Jesus. However, the score and book have been modified with many modern day references including Lindsey Lohan, Donald Trump, and even Wicked. All of these references contributed to how incredibly funny and clever the show was. The level of talent in the show was top notch. Hunter Parrish led the cast with a silly and likable enthusiasm, as well as a silkily beautiful and appealing singing voice. He truly shines in "Beautiful City." Uzo Aduba delivers a beautiful and passionate rendition of "By My Side", in which she showcases her beautifully unique singing voice and strong fervor and need for Jesus. Lindsey Mendez brings down the house with a stunning rendition of "Bless the Lord," while Telly Leung brings the audience to tears with his interpretation of "All Good Gifts." Other standout performers include a goofy Nick Blaemire, a vocally incredible Celisse Henderson, a perky Anna Maria Perez de Tagle, and a hysterical Morgan James. However, at the end of the show, the cast delivers an emotionally stirring crucifixion scene in which I was brought to tears. At the end of the show as they carry Jesus out of the theater, every cast member looks moved and enlightened. However, as an audience member, I was moved and enlightened as well. Don't walk, run to the Circle in the Square Theater and keep this show alive. You will not be disappointed.

There's a lot of fun to be had at the Broadway revival of Godspell, now at the Circle in the Square Theatre. A game cast reinterprets the Book of Matthew's most famous parables, sometimes even drawing audience volunteers up on stage to help out. Even so, the production, directed by Daniel Goldstein, only rarely ignites with the kind of passion needed to take the show to the next level.
Conceived by original director John-Michael Tebelak, and featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, the musical endeavors to provide a contemporary yet timeless take on the teachings of Jesus Christ with each new production of the show incorporating topical references and updates.
